Ruto Says Leadership Guided by Divine Purpose, Defends Foreign Trips

President William Ruto has said he believes his leadership is guided by a divine purpose.

Speaking during a fundraising event at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nkarusha, Kajiado County, on Sunday, the President said he made a deliberate decision to lead Kenya with the aim of accelerating national development and improving the country’s economic and social well-being.

Ruto said this conviction motivates him to go the extra mile in carrying out his national duties. He emphasized that he remains fully committed to ensuring Kenya achieves meaningful progress and development.

During the event, the President responded to critics who have questioned his frequent foreign trips, saying such criticism stems from poor planning, negligence, and laziness among some of his detractors.

He also defended his international travels, arguing that national development requires hard work and dedication. Ruto cited countries such as South Korea, Singapore, and Malaysia as examples of nations that have achieved remarkable development, urging Kenya to intensify its efforts to match or surpass similar levels of economic growth.

The President further announced that he will travel to France on Monday to attend the G7 Summit, where he will represent 54 African nations. He said his main agenda will be to discuss how Africa can effectively utilize its vast resources, including land and human capital, to drive transformation and strengthen partnerships with the rest of the world.
