Patients across Kenya continue to face difficulties accessing healthcare services following a system failure at the Social Health Authority, SHA.
The disruption, which has lasted for several days, has affected patient registration, treatment approvals and billing processes in public hospitals.
At Kenyatta National Hospital, some patients who were due for discharge have remained admitted because their bills could not be processed through the SHA system.
Cancer patients have been among the hardest hit, with many unable to receive treatment after failing to secure the necessary approvals through the digital platform.
Some patients requiring specialized procedures have reportedly been asked to pay cash for services after the system failed to process their requests.
SHA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mercy Mwangangi confirmed the outage and stated that efforts had been made to restore normal operations.
Despite those assurances, hospitals in different parts of the country continue to report delays and service interruptions, leaving patients uncertain about when full services will resume.
