A coalition of Kenya’s opposition leaders has launched a three-day political tour of the Western Kenya region in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots support and enhancing engagement with local communities ahead of future political realignments.
The tour is being spearheaded by Eugene Wamalwa and brings together several prominent opposition figures, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i. The leaders are expected to address public gatherings and hold consultations with residents on key national and regional issues.
Several legislators are also participating in the tour, among them Peter Salasya, as the opposition seeks to project unity and consolidate support across the region.
According to the programme released by the organizers, the tour begins in Luanda before moving through various towns and trading centres across Western Kenya. The leaders are expected to meet local opinion leaders, youth groups, business communities, and grassroots supporters during the visit.
Political analysts view the tour as part of broader efforts by opposition leaders to strengthen their presence in key voting blocs and position themselves ahead of upcoming political contests. The visit is also expected to provide a platform for the leaders to discuss issues such as the cost of living, governance, economic challenges, and national unity.
The three-day engagement will culminate on Sunday in Kitale, where the opposition leaders are expected to hold a major public rally and outline their vision for the country’s political future.
