Three Suspects arrested in Marsabit with 13 Elephant Tusks

Three poaching suspects are being held at the Marsabit Police Station after they were arrested with 13 elephant tusks.

The trio was apprehended inside a rental house in the Majengo estate of Marsabit town at around midnight heading into Thursday.

Confirming the incident, Marsabit County Police Commander Leonard Kimaiyo stated that the three men were found in possession of elephant tusks weighing 39.5 kilograms, with an estimated street value of approximately Ksh 600,000.

Kimaiyo revealed that the suspects were cornered by police officers thanks to tip-offs received from members of the public.

The police commander commended the local residents for their cooperation, which was instrumental in making the arrest a success.

The three suspects are expected to be arraigned in court to face charges.
