President William Ruto has sent his condolences to Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana and his wife, Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga, following the death of their eight-year-old daughter, Amal Mghoi Mungatana.
Amal, the couple’s last-born child, died on Sunday, September 13, 2026, while receiving treatment at Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Muthaiga, Nairobi. The family confirmed her death after years of health challenges.
According to the family, Amal had experienced health complications since birth and received treatment both in Kenya and abroad during her eight years.
Despite the challenges, the family described Amal as a source of joy, smiles and love, expressing gratitude to God for the time they shared with her.
In a message shared on social media, President Ruto mourned Amal’s death and extended his condolences to the family, friends and all those who knew and loved her.
“Losing a child is an indescribable grief,” Ruto said, as he prayed for the family to receive strength, comfort and peace during the difficult period.
Family members and mourners are currently gathering at the family home in Ngao Village, Tana River County, as preparations for the burial continue.
Amal is scheduled to be buried on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Ngao Village.
