Tyler Perry declares he is never getting married, citing financial risks of divorce

Date:

Media mogul Tyler Perry has firmly closed the door on marriage. During a recent broadcast interview, the 57-year-old actor, writer, and director revealed he has no plans to ever tie the knot, despite his romantic history and status as one of entertainment’s most successful figures.

While Perry expressed that he has no aversion to romance or the concept of love, he pointed to the financial devastation he has witnessed among married friends and peers following high-stakes divorces as his primary reason for remaining single.

“I am never getting married,” Perry stated, adding that he has repeatedly watched close acquaintances lose substantial fortunes after their marriages dissolved.

Perry’s stance on marriage comes after years of navigating a high-profile life without formal marital ties.

Early in his career, Perry intentionally avoided serious commitments, spending over a decade focused solely on escaping poverty and building his billion-dollar media ecosystem.

Although Perry shares a son, Aman, with his former long-term partner Gelila Bekele, the two never married and publicly separated after a multi-year relationship. Perry has consistently maintained that being a dedicated father is his single highest priority.

As the sole owner of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Perry’s financial assets make prenuptial agreements and legal marital contracts particularly complex, reinforcing his decision to keep business and personal life separate.
