Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has strongly rebuked politicians making reckless statements that threaten to compromise public trust in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a church service in Kapseng’ere, Nandi County, Mudavadi cautioned political leaders across both government and opposition against resorting to inciting rhetoric, vote-rigging claims, and political intimidation.
Mudavadi strongly condemned inflammatory remarks alleging that dead people’s fingerprints could be used to manipulate electoral tallies. “Stop the propaganda that dead people will vote. Ruto will not steal elections,”
He emphasized that President William Ruto must win a second term through the “front door” via a free, fair, and transparent democratic process, rather than through shortcuts or questionable means.
Mudavadi called on the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to act decisively against politicians stoking tribal divisions or undermining confidence in state institutions.
He urged aspirants to build properly registered political parties with nationwide structures across all 47 counties instead of relying on chaotic street mobilizations or shortcuts.
Mudavadi’s remarks follow widespread public outcry triggered by controversial statements from UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar, who suggested that the ruling coalition would secure victory by any means necessary, including using records of deceased citizens.
Calling for calm and restraint, Mudavadi reiterated that Kenya’s political maturity depends on upholding institutional integrity and respecting the constitutional rights of voters.
“Let us choose unity over division, leadership over noise, and democracy over reckless politics.”
