Aisha Jumwa dumps UDA, aligns with opposition’s Linda Mwananchi Movement

Date:

Former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has officially resigned from President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), signaling a major political shift along the Coast region ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The vocal politician announced her exit following months of internal frictions, citing the need for fresh political alignment after extensive consultations with her constituents.

Led by prominent opposition figures—including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino—the Linda Mwananchi movement is positioning itself as a cross-party coalition. It continues to draw figures from across the political spectrum, aiming to consolidate grassroots support ahead of 2027.
