Broad-Based government is the only formation that can unite Kenyans

Date:

President William Ruto has strongly defended his administration’s broad-based governance structure, describing it as an intentional, strategic effort to unite the nation and bring lasting political stability.

Speaking during a public address, the Head of State dismissed critics who labeled the multi-party alliance a reactive political compromise, insisting it remains the most viable vehicle to ensure inclusive development across all regions.

“The broad-based government was not a mistake; it was deliberate. It was intentional. In my equation, I wanted a situation where no Kenyan is left behind.”

Ruto stressed that political divisions have historically stalled development, arguing that pooling leadership across traditional party lines removes factional gridlock.

The President reassured citizens that public investments—including infrastructure and agriculture projects—will be distributed fairly, regardless of regional voting histories.

Ruto warned against political alliances built around individual personalities, asserting that governance must be anchored on a clear track record and concrete policy agenda rather than rhetoric.

The broad-based government framework emerged following significant political realignments. The arrangement brought key opposition figures—including prominent leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)—into core Cabinet dockets such as the National Treasury, Energy, and Mining.

While critics view the formation as a strategic move to soften political opposition, administration officials maintain that cross-party collaboration is essential to executing long-term economic reforms and keeping the country focused on development over continuous electioneering.
