Amisi warns IEBC ahead of 2027 polls

Date:

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has sent a stern warning to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) regarding technological preparedness ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking on political readiness and voter protection, the legislator demanded 100 percent reliability of the Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kits across all polling stations nationwide. Amisi stressed that failure of digital voter identification and transmission hardware on polling day will not be tolerated, citing past election discrepancies linked to system downtime.

The lawmaker emphasized that all KIEMS kits must be fully functional on election day to eliminate manual register loopholes.

Amisi stated that opposition forces and civil watchdogs are organizing to safeguard votes and will aggressively scrutinize IEBC’s technical procurement and dry runs.

He urged the electoral body to conduct early, open testing of all election technology to build public trust well ahead of 2027.

Amisi noted that ensuring the integrity of the digital voting infrastructure remains the single most critical step toward preventing post-election disputes in 2027.
