First Lady Rachel Ruto lands in Morocco for high-level working visit at Princess Lalla Asmaa’s invitation

Date:

First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto arrived in Rabat for a working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, following a special invitation from Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Asmaa.

The First Lady touched down at the Rabat-Salé Airport, where she was received by Princess Lalla Asmaa alongside high-ranking Moroccan dignitaries and Kenya’s Ambassador to Morocco, Jessica Gakinya. She was honored with a traditional Moroccan ceremonial welcome featuring dates and milk before proceeding to formal receptions.

The primary objective of the visit centers on championing the rights and healthcare of children living with hearing impairments. Speaking upon her arrival, the First Lady highlighted the shared commitment between both nations to enhance inclusion, access, and support for vulnerable children.

“I look forward to engagements focused on a cause that is close to my heart — creating greater opportunities, inclusion, and hope for children with hearing impairments. I am grateful for the warm welcome and look forward to deepening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Kenya and Morocco,” stated First Lady Rachel Ruto.

The bilateral engagements build upon an ongoing partnership between the two nations, following Princess Lalla Asmaa’s previous initiatives through the Lalla Asmaa Foundation to support cochlear implant programs and specialized pediatric healthcare.

According to statements from the Kenyan Embassy in Morocco, the visit serves to advance broader South-South cooperation, reinforcing diplomatic, social, and economic ties between Nairobi and Rabat.

During her stay, First Lady Rachel Ruto is scheduled to participate in a series of bilateral discussions, site visits to specialized medical facilities, and joint engagements alongside Princess Lalla Asmaa aimed at expanding joint initiatives in inclusive healthcare.
