Interior PS Raymond Omollo urges youth to reject political violence

Date:

Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo has issued a stern warning to political figures against exploiting young people to incite chaos, calling on the youth to firmly reject political violence ahead of the upcoming election cycles.

Speaking during an address in Kisumu, the Principal Secretary emphasized that political differences should never escalate into violence, destruction of property, or the loss of innocent lives.

“The President has been very clear from day one: under his leadership, violence and chaos will not become the currency of our politics. If you do not support a particular politician, simply stay away from their meeting—let us not engage in violence or lose lives over politics.”

The government warned political actors that any attempt to mobilize youth gangs or take the law into their own hands will face the full force of security agencies, regardless of a leader’s status or position.

Omollo urged the youth to remain vigilant, resist financial or ideological manipulation by political handlers, and actively safeguard regional stability.

Highlighting recent peace-building efforts between bordering communities in Kisumu and Kericho, the PS noted that long-term security relies on continuous dialogue and responsible leadership.

Security personnel have been instructed to investigate and prosecute all political acts of criminality strictly within the law.

The Interior Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to guaranteeing democratic rights and freedom of expression, stressing that these freedoms must be exercised peacefully and within constitutional limits.
