President William Ruto on Wednesday held talks with British High Commissioner to Kenya Matt Baugh at State House, Nairobi, where they discussed ways of strengthening Kenya United Kingdom relations through increased trade, investment, infrastructure development, and enhanced regional security cooperation.
During the meeting, President Ruto and the British envoy agreed to leverage the Kenya United Kingdom Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) to boost bilateral trade, attract more investment, and unlock greater economic opportunities for both nations.
The President also briefed High Commissioner Baugh on the implementation of Kenya’s National Infrastructure Fund, highlighting the government’s efforts to mobilize strategic investments to finance key infrastructure projects that will drive the country’s economic transformation.
The two explored potential areas of collaboration to accelerate development through increased investment and innovation.
The discussions also focused on regional peace and security, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to supporting stability across the region. They emphasized that peace and security remain critical to fostering sustainable development, economic growth, and shared prosperity.
The meeting underscored the strong and enduring partnership between Kenya and the United Kingdom, with both sides expressing their commitment to deepening cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, and regional peace initiatives for the mutual benefit of their countries.
