Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has declared that President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration are fully prepared to face the electorate “eye to eye” and defend their political and development record ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County while addressing thousands of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) grassroots delegates and local leaders, the Deputy President stated that the government is not afraid of public scrutiny or direct engagement with voters.
“Mimi na Rais wangu, we are ready to face the people of Kenya. Eye to eye, face to face, and explain what this government has done,”
“We will not come with arrogance demanding your vote as if it is our right… We will come to the voters and request them to vote for us because of the development record we present.”
Kindiki accused opposition political figures of lacking a clear policy agenda, relying instead on “lies, insults, and nicknames” over the past four years. He promised that the ruling administration will use the coming months to counter opposition narratives in broad daylight.
The Deputy President pointed to key milestones in agriculture (such as lowered fertilizer prices), road infrastructure, healthcare reforms, and the hiring of thousands of teachers as tangible evidence of the administration’s performance.
Framing their first term as the period for laying economic foundations, Kindiki urged citizens to grant President Ruto a second term to complete long-term development initiatives and move the country toward first-world economic status.
The gathering ratified an endorsement by Mt. Kenya East elders backing President Ruto’s 2027 re-election bid with Kindiki as his running mate, with leaders resolving to unify the region’s political vote.
The remarks mark an escalating political tempo as the ruling administration ramps up public engagements to shore up grassroots support and defend its performance against a rejuvenating opposition campaign.
