Gachagua to make a major announcement before departing to US

Date:

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua announced plans to travel to the United States on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, alongside his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, for an extended stay aimed at charting his 2027 political strategy.

Speaking during a church service at PEFA All Nations Church in Karatina, Nyeri County, the former Deputy President stated that the trip would provide him with much-needed solitude to make critical political decisions without local pressures or undue influence.

Gachagua emphasized that being in Kenya subjects him to constant advice and local political pressure. “I want to make some decisions without undue influence so that I make the right decisions,” he told congregants.

Beyond personal reflection, Gachagua plans to engage with Kenyans in the diaspora and international contacts to build momentum and rally support for his 2027 presidential bid.

The announcement marks the end of his 58-day political consultations at his Wamunyoro home, where he met with grassroots mobilizers, community leaders, delegations from Isiolo and Marsabit, and Gen Z representatives.

Before departing, Gachagua scheduled a national press briefing to present a synthesis of the views gathered during his two-month consultations and outline his party’s official roadmap forward.
