Detectives have arrested a third suspect in connection with the violence that erupted during a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) delegates’ meeting in Embu on Saturday, September 12, 2026, which left several people dead.
The latest suspect, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was apprehended on Monday, September 14, in Kithimu, Embu, during a joint operation by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operations Support Team (OST) and the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB).
This brings the total number of suspects in custody to three, following the arrest of two others on Saturday shortly after the violence broke out.
Detectives are continuing to intensify investigations to identify and arrest additional individuals believed to have been involved in the clashes. The DCI stated that officers are pursuing all leads to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and bring those responsible to justice, emphasizing that all participants will face accountability regardless of their motives or political affiliations.
The outbreak of violence during the delegates’ meeting has raised serious concerns regarding public safety at political gatherings. The DCI has urged members of the public who possess relevant information to assist with the ongoing probe.
The suspects are undergoing processing as investigators build the case before proceeding to court, and they remain presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
