Wambua dismisses claims of Kalonzo–Ruto talks ahead of 2027 election

Date:

Wiper Deputy Minority Leader Enock Wambua has dismissed claims that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka met President William Ruto to discuss a possible political alliance ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Wambua described the reports circulating on social media as a “deepfake”, insisting that Kalonzo remains committed to the opposition-backed United Alternative movement.

“There was no meeting, there is no plan to have such a meeting. If Ruto met a man in State House called Kalonzo, then that man was not Kalonzo Musyoka,” Wambua said.

The remarks follow videos circulating online alleging that Kalonzo held talks with President Ruto and was considering becoming his running mate in the next election.

Wambua said the claims were aimed at creating confusion among opposition supporters, alleging that Kalonzo remains a major political threat to President Ruto ahead of the 2027 race.

“Kalonzo is a seasoned politician. I dare say he is the senior most statesman alive. Kalonzo is not a man to sell the vision of millions of Kenyans for his personal gain,” he said.

He added that opposition leaders were still working together and would announce their presidential candidate for the 2027 election at the appropriate time, with all leaders committed to supporting whoever is chosen.

The Wiper leader’s camp has maintained that there are no plans for Kalonzo to join the Kenya Kwanza administration, dismissing the claims as political propaganda.
