MARSABIT— Two people have died and four others injured after a head-on collision involving two vehicles on the Marsabit-Segel road near the dumpsite in Marsabit County.
Marsabit Central Sub-County Police Commander Beethoven Gachago confirmed the accident occurred at around 9pm Sunday.
The accident involved a Toyota Hilux traveling from Marsabit town to Segel and a Toyota Land Cruiser heading from Segel to Marsabit.
Gachago said the Land Cruiser had been parked for repairs after developing a wheel problem when the Hilux rammed into it.
“One person died on the spot while another died while receiving treatment at Marsabit County Teaching and Referral Hospital,” he said.
One of the injured was treated and discharged. Three others remain admitted with chest injuries.
The bodies have been moved to the Marsabit Level 5 Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Gachago urged motorists and other road users to be cautious and obey traffic rules.
