The Linda Mwananchi political faction has formally notified the National Police Service (NPS) of its upcoming public political rallies scheduled to take place across Homa Bay County on August 16, 2026. As part of a broader nationwide campaign, the group’s leadership has called for heightened security measures to guarantee the safety of attendees, while simultaneously advocating for peace and order throughout the events.
The high-profile faction brings together major political figures across the region, with its core leadership comprising Edwin Sifuna (Senator, Nairobi County), James Orengo (Governor, Siaya County), and Babu Owino (MP, Embakasi East).
Key coordination on the ground is being spearheaded by Samwel Nyauke (Linda Mwananchi Coordinator, Homa Bay County) and Clifford Obiero (Member & Representative, Linda Mwananchi Brigade), who are liaising directly with local security chief Lawrence Koilem (Police Commander, Homa Bay County).
In a key step toward event preparation, Homa Bay County Coordinator Samwel Nyauke personally delivered the formal event notification to Homa Bay County Police Commander Lawrence Koilem at his office. Commander Koilem acknowledged and certified receipt of the document, establishing an official line of coordination between organizers and law enforcement.
Following the submission, police leadership assured the team that maximum security protocols will be deployed to safeguard all attendees throughout the political gatherings. However, law enforcement issued a stern warning against any form of violence, provocation, or civil unrest during the scheduled activities.
Both organizers and authorities are maintaining a strong emphasis on peaceful conduct ahead of the August rallies. Samwel Nyauke urged supporters to observe complete peace and refrain from violence to allow security agencies to manage the event smoothly, while Clifford Obiero briefed the press following the meeting, emphasizing that police assurances were clear and calling on all attendees regardless of their political affiliations to maintain maximum order and mutual tolerance.
