Oburu endorses Ruto’s vision 2060.

ODM Party Leader and Siaya Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga has publicly backed President William Ruto’s long-term development roadmap, describing the newly unveiled Vision 2060 framework as a visionary initiative and attributing its conceptual foundation to the late ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Sunday during a thanksgiving and prayer service for Homa Bay Woman Representative Joyce Atieno Osogo Bensuda in Karachuonyo Constituency, Dr. Oburu affirmed ODM’s total commitment to the economic blueprint, framing it as a direct contribution of the broad-based government arrangement.

Dr. Oburu stated that the long-term national development roadmap was initially conceptualized under Raila Odinga’s leadership prior to being adopted by the government.

“President Ruto has come up with a blueprint for 2060. That Vision 2060 was an idea of our late Raila Amolo Odinga, and the team which crafted it was formed by him. Therefore, we are 100 per cent supporting it because it is our idea and our contribution to the coalition.”Dr. Oburu Oginga

Oburu defended ODM’s decision to partner with the Kenya Kwanza administration, maintaining that the engagement is driven by policy influence and mutual strength rather than political subordination.

A joint UDA-ODM technical committee has been established to harmonize key policy agendas and draft a shared manifesto for future political engagements.

Oburu emphasized the importance of respect among coalition partners regarding respective political strongholds, calling for automatic recognition of regions where parties already command majority representation. While ODM leaders have lined up behind the framework, opposition figures—including Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka—have questioned the rationale for introducing a 2060 roadmap, arguing the government should prioritize urgent economic challenges and complete current Vision 2030 commitments.
