Echoing the well-known adage that “women hold up half the sky,” the discussions centered on leveraging legislative leadership to address critical social welfare and civic concerns.
At the core of the meeting was an urgent call to strengthen the nationwide response against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The leaders deliberated on enhanced enforcement strategies and legislative backing to protect vulnerable groups across all 47 counties, ensuring safe environments for communities to thrive.
In tandem with safety initiatives, child protection took center stage as lawmakers examined expanded legal safeguards and community advocacy frameworks. The partnership aims to build stronger social safety nets, combating exploitation and ensuring comprehensive care for children across the country.
The leaders also addressed the crucial issue of civic access, focusing on streamlining the acquisition of national identity documents. Guaranteeing seamless access to legal documentation remains vital to unlocking civic rights, financial inclusion, and essential public services for every Kenyan.
Moving forward, executive leadership and parliamentarians agreed to deepen collaborative governance, establishing actionable frameworks to track progress on GBV response, child protection measures, and registration access nationwide.
