LSK demands suspension of Communications Authority chair Charles Karondo over Ol Kalou By-Election conduct

Date:

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has called for the immediate suspension of Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) Board Chairperson Charles Karondo following allegations surrounding his involvement in the contentious Ol Kalou by-election.

The lawyers’ body raised serious concerns regarding regulatory standards, official integrity, and election-related violence and interference linked to the exercise. In a statement released in Nairobi, LSK outlined its position and expectations for relevant state organs:

LSK is petitioning the appointing authorities to step down Karondo pending a full, independent investigation to protect public confidence in the telecommunications regulator.

The demand stems from reports and investigative documentation tying key officials to electoral violence, voter harassment, and intimidation during the Ol Kalou poll.

LSK emphasized that public officers holding high-profile state appointments must adhere to Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.

The Law Society urged investigative bodies to fast-track probes into all individuals implicated in compromising election integrity and violence in the constituency.
