Former Chief Justice David Maraga is set to take his 2027 presidential campaign to the United States, where he will engage Kenyans living in the diaspora as he seeks to expand his political support ahead of the General Election.
Maraga, who is the United Green Movement (UGM) presidential flag bearer, will begin his US tour on September 17 and is scheduled to return to Kenya on October 5, according to his campaign itinerary.
The former Chief Justice will visit Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, Georgia, Houston and Dallas during the nearly three-week tour.
In a message to Kenyans living in the United States, Maraga invited members of the diaspora to attend his engagements, share their views and discuss their vision for Kenya.
“I am excited to begin my US tour from 17th September to 5th October 2026, visiting Washington DC, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Minnesota, Georgia, Houston, and Dallas,” Maraga said.
He urged Kenyans in the diaspora to participate in the meetings, saying their ideas and experiences could contribute to shaping the country’s future.
“To all Kenyans in the diaspora across these states, I invite you to come out, engage, and share your vision for Kenya,” he said.
Maraga said his political vision was anchored on faith, integrity and service to all Kenyans, presenting the US tour as an opportunity to engage citizens beyond Kenya’s borders on the direction they would like the country to take.
“Together, let us build a nation anchored on faith, integrity, and service to all,” he said.
The tour comes as Maraga intensifies his political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election. He has been building his campaign around governance, constitutionalism, integrity and accountable leadership, following his decision to enter active politics after serving as Kenya’s Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court.
Maraga’s UGM campaign has also undertaken grassroots mobilization across the country. Earlier this year, he travelled to 43 of Kenya’s 47 counties through the Ukatiba Caravan, using the tour to engage citizens on governance, constitutionalism and other issues affecting them.
The UGM has positioned Maraga as its presidential flag bearer for the 2027 election, with the party’s campaign focusing on its “Reset, Restore, Rebuild” message.
The former Chief Justice’s decision to take his campaign to the diaspora comes at a time when political players are stepping up preparations for the 2027 elections, with parties and potential presidential contenders seeking to build nationwide and international support.
For Maraga, the US engagements are expected to provide an opportunity to listen to Kenyans living abroad while also presenting his political agenda to a constituency that remains closely connected to developments in Kenya.
His itinerary will take him through several states with sizeable Kenyan communities. The tour includes two days in Washington DC, followed by engagements in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and New York before he heads to Minnesota, Georgia and Texas.
The former Chief Justice has increasingly presented his political campaign as an effort to promote a different approach to leadership, with emphasis on integrity, constitutional governance and service to citizens.
His US tour will therefore be closely watched as he seeks to translate his growing political activities at home into support among Kenyans living abroad ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
