Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations with the Republic of Cyprus, saying the partnership will unlock greater investment, trade and employment opportunities for Kenyans.
Speaking after meeting the outgoing High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus to Kenya, H.E. Mr. Savvas Vladimirou, who is concluding his tour of duty, Mudavadi thanked the envoy for his dedication and contribution to deepening the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
Mudavadi noted that effective diplomacy is measured not only by the strength of relationships between nations but also by the opportunities those partnerships create for their people.
During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to concluding several key bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in agriculture, air transport, mutual recognition of academic qualifications, and the elimination of double taxation. According to Mudavadi, the agreements are expected to facilitate trade, attract investment, improve the ease of doing business, and create new economic opportunities for both Kenya and Cyprus.
The discussions also explored expanding collaboration in emerging sectors, including the blue economy, pharmaceuticals, and trade, areas viewed as critical to driving sustainable economic growth and strengthening commercial ties between the two countries.
Mudavadi said Kenya remains committed to building mutually beneficial partnerships that promote innovation, economic development and shared prosperity, while positioning the country as a competitive investment destination.
He also welcomed an invitation to visit Cyprus and expressed optimism that continued high-level engagements would further strengthen bilateral relations. Mudavadi said Kenya looks forward to sustaining its diplomatic engagement with Cyprus, including through meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where both countries will continue discussions on areas of mutual interest.
The meeting underscored the growing Kenya-Cyprus partnership and both countries’ shared commitment to expanding cooperation through diplomacy, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges for the benefit of their citizens.
