Linda Mwananchi leaders have promised to prioritize unresolved water and land problems in Taita Taveta County if elected in 2027, accusing the Kenya Kwanza administration of failing to deliver on its promises.
Addressing crowds in Mwatate, Wundanyi and Voi over the weekend, movement leader Senator Edwin Sifuna criticized President Ruto over delays in implementing the Mzima Springs Phase 2 water project.
“The government made promises about water and then disappeared. A Linda Mwananchi government will give you water and secure your land,” Sifuna said.
Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako faulted the national government for excluding locals in project planning, saying some ongoing projects were of little benefit compared to stalled ones.
The rally also turned into an endorsement for MP Mwashako’s bid for Taita Taveta governor. Sifuna, Orengo and Osotsi praised Mwashako for defending citizens’ rights and pledged the movement’s full support.
“Mwashako has shown he can deliver. He has the vision to transform Taita Taveta using local resources,” Orengo said.
Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Babu Owino also vouched for Mwashako’s development record.
