Taita-Taveta county league kicks off in style as teams show early title ambitions

The Taita-Taveta County League got off to an exciting start over the weekend, with several teams delivering impressive performances and signaling their intentions to challenge for the title this season.

In Saturday’s matches, Lion Rock recorded a convincing 4-0 victory over Action Boys, while Kitivo defeated Mwachawaza 3-1. Moda Mbogho also began their campaign strongly with a 3-0 win against ACK St. James.

Nyuki were awarded a 2-0 walkover victory against Zagalo, while California secured a narrow 1-0 away win over Chanju. Blackstars also claimed a comfortable 3-1 victory against Cossovo.

Sunday’s fixtures provided fans with thrilling action across different venues.

In Mwatate, Twin Brothers and Kirongwe settled for a 1-1 draw, while Mote Moro and Mwachabo also shared the points after a 1-1 stalemate. Chemsha Bongo produced the standout performance of the weekend, thrashing Rock Warriors 8-1, as Majengo cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory over Healand.

In Taveta, Lessesia FC edged Kibo FC 2-1, while Challa FC stunned hosts Majengo FC with a commanding 5-1 victory. Rekeke also impressed with a 3-0 away win against Bahati FC.

In the Voi Nako matches, Kingstone Youth hammered Voi Bodaboda 5-1, while Beach Warriors secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Joe Timber. Jora and Rockland played out a 1-1 draw, Buguta United defeated Mkamenyi 2-1, and Kajire Allstars shared the spoils with Ndara B in a 1-1 draw. Voi Wildlife wrapped up the weekend’s action with a hard-fought 1-0 away win over Voi Eagles.

The opening round of matches has set the stage for what promises to be a highly competitive season, as teams battle for the Taita-Taveta County League title.
