Suspect arrested in Marsabit town over alleged bhang trafficking

A 29-year-old man has been arrested in Marsabit for allegedly trafficking bhang, according to Leonard Kimaiyo.

Mr. Kimaiyo said the suspect, identified as Abdullahi Abdiharim, was arrested on Monday near Bypass Bar in Mountain Location following an intelligence-led operation.

Police recovered 60 rolls of Cannabis sativa (bhang) and KSh 10,050 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of the drugs during a search at the scene.

“The suspect is in custody and will be presented in court,” Mr. Kimaiyo said.

The County Police Commander commended members of the public for providing information that led to the arrest and encouraged residents to continue cooperating with security agencies in the fight against drug trafficking.

“We thank members of the public for their vigilance and cooperation. We urge you to continue sharing information on suspicious activities so we can make Marsabit safer for all,” he added.

Police said investigations into the matter are ongoing. As with any criminal case, the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
