ISIOLO — Police in Isiolo have arrested one suspect and seized 44 sachets of suspected cannabis sativa along with a stash of cannabis seeds following a targeted security operation in Isiolo Township and Bula Pesa on Monday.
According to a statement from the National Police Service (NPS), officers conducting the September 7 raid discovered the seeds concealed in a red polythene bag. The suspect is detained at Isiolo Police Station pending processing and arraignment, while the seized narcotics have been secured as court exhibits.
Police noted that the operation is part of an ongoing multi-agency initiative aimed at eradicating illicit drugs and illegal brews across the country. Authorities urged members of the public to assist enforcement efforts by sharing information with local police stations or through official emergency hotlines.
The bust comes less than a week after officers intercepted 100 sachets of suspected bhang at the Inana Matatu Stage in Isiolo Town on September 2. In that incident, an unidentified suspect abandoned a bag containing the narcotics and fled on foot during a police patrol. A manhunt for the fugitive remains underway.
Commending the officers involved in the recent operations, the NPS reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining nationwide crackdowns to eliminate drug trafficking.
