More than 2,000 households in Loglogo, Laisamis Sub-County, Marsabit County, are expected to benefit from improved access to clean water following the official commissioning of a fully equipped borehole by the Kenya Drylands Education Fund (KDEF).
The commissioning ceremony was led by KDEF Director Ahmed Kura, accompanied by donors whose financial support made the drilling and installation of the borehole possible.
Speaking during the event, Kura emphasized that access to clean water is fundamental to community development. He said KDEF will continue working with various partners to ensure that residents of arid and semi-arid areas have access to essential services that improve their quality of life.
Kura also expressed gratitude to the donors for their support, noting that the partnership had enabled the successful implementation of a project that will significantly reduce water shortages in Loglogo while improving public health and overall living standards.
Local village leaders and the headteacher of a nearby school thanked KDEF and its donors, saying the project will make it easier for residents and students, who previously had to walk long distances, to access clean and safe water.
The borehole is expected to serve more than 2,000 households by providing a reliable supply of clean and safe water for domestic use, schools, and other community activities. KDEF has continued to implement education, water, and community development projects across the arid counties of Marsabit and Samburu.
