President William Ruto and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga are planning a high-level retreat in Naivasha aimed at solidifying the ongoing political partnership between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and ODM.
The scheduled retreat follows a series of joint engagements and consultative forums between the two parties under the Broad-Based Government (BBG) framework.
Following earlier consensus to form a Broad-Based Management Committee, top leadership from both parties—including Cabinet Secretaries and Parliamentary leadership—will align their executive and legislative priority lists ahead of upcoming parliamentary sessions.
The Naivasha talks aim to defuse internal tensions over electoral zoning and candidate nominations ahead of the 2027 General Election. Both camps are working to ensure their combined grassroots mobilization operates smoothly without triggering fallout among local aspirants.
Discussions will review progress on joint governance pledges, including joint committee recommendations on youth employment, debt management, and key economic reforms.
The meeting comes amidst heightened political alignment, with senior ODM leadership reaffirming support for President Ruto’s re-election bid while keeping options open regarding executive power-sharing arrangements and coalition structures for 2027.
Naivasha has historically served as a central retreat venue for major political declarations and policy retreats in Kenya.
