A cross-section of Narok County residents and local civil society leaders have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, demanding an unreserved public apology following recent public comments they term insensitive and politically divisive.
Speaking during a joint press briefing in Narok Town on Thursday, community elders, youth representatives, and local business leaders voiced deep dissatisfaction with the governor’s recent utterances made during a public gathering in the county.
The residents claim Governor Ntutu’s remarks undermined local community concerns regarding resource allocation, county governance, and public participation.
“We expect our county leader to unite the people and address pressing socio-economic challenges, not to dismiss public concerns with provocative language,” said Joseph ole Kaelo, a spokesperson for the local community group. “We are demanding a formal retraction and a public apology to restore trust between the county executive and the electorate.”
The controversy stems from comments made by Governor Ntutu earlier this week, in which he addressed local political opposition and administrative grievances. Critics accuse the governor of adopting a belligerent stance rather than fostering dialogue on key development issues affecting local traders and agrarian communities.
Local leaders warned that failure by the county chief to issue a formal statement addressing the matter could prompt peaceful public demonstrations and formal petitions to the County Assembly.
As of press time, the Office of the Governor had not issued an official response to the demands, though close allies of Governor Ntutu dismissed the backlash as politically motivated rhetoric aimed at undermining the county administration’s track record.
