Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata named best-performing county chief in latest national poll.

NAIROBI, Kenya — Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata has been ranked as the best-performing governor in Kenya, scoring 80% in the latest national devolution assessment by Infotrak.

The survey placed Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya second with 76%, followed by Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi at 71%.

Governor Irungu Kang’ata secured the highest overall score nationwide (80%) for service delivery and governance impact.

Murang’a County led the country in utilizing technology to streamline service delivery, scoring 51%.

The county also ranked highest in public funds management and transparency with a 47% score, leading other top counties like Kisii (44%) and Kiambu (43%).

Strong results were recorded across key sectors including healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and local economic development.
