Date:

Taveta Member of Parliament John Okano Bwire has emerged as the best-performing lawmaker in the Coast region and the third-best nationally, according to the latest performance index released by research firm Infotrak.

The comprehensive report, which evaluated all 290 constituency representatives across Kenya, ranked the first-term MP third overall with an impressive approval score of 76 percent. Reacting to the news, Bwire expressed his gratitude to his constituents and pledged to continue serving the people of Taveta with integrity, diligence, and humility.

The survey also brought good news for Wundanyi MP Danson Mwashako, who secured the second position within Taita Taveta County and a commendable 11th place nationally, scoring 72 percent. Expressing his delight at the ranking, Mwashako noted that his strong performance proves that leadership and development are not dependent on political alignment. He emphasized that a leader does not necessarily have to toe the line of the national government to deliver meaningful development to their electorate.

Meanwhile, Voi MP Hamisi Chome and his Mwatate counterpart Peter Shake tied for fourth place within the county. Nationally, the two lawmakers were ranked at position 87, each scoring an approval rating of 62 percent.

The Infotrak report also shed light on the performance of the county’s county-wide representatives. Taita Taveta County Woman Representative, Lydia Haika, was ranked 20th out of the 47 Woman Representatives across the country, scoring 49 percent. On the other hand, Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma clinched the 30th spot out of 47 senators nationally, finishing with a 50 percent approval rating from the electorate.
