Maata Radio is the biggest station in Turkana County that broadcasts to an area of 150 km radius. The station covers the entire Turkana Central and neighboring regions, parts of west Pokot, Loyangalani in Marsabit county, and as far as Moroto in Uganda reaching the Karamoja of Uganda.
Maata Radio’s prides itself as the radio station that speaks and encourages peaceful co-existence in this volatile region through its slogan, we speak peace. It works closely with several NGOs and other partners in advocating for children’s rights, safe hygiene and sanitation practices, governance issues, education, health, business, and livestock management, among other social-economic-development issues.
Maata Radio is the most popular radio station in Turkana County, and it broadcast in Swahili and the local Turkana language.
